Overview
Clergy are leaders within a given religion. They have the training to preside over rituals, facilitate rites of passage, and teach the practices of their religion. In Norse paganism, the terms for clergy can vary, but goði (male clergy), gyðia (female clergy), are sometimes ellri (“elder”) are used.
Training to become pagan clergy in the United States typically requires attending an institute of higher education and completing a Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree. As of writing, the only school that offers a purely-pagan approach to Divinity is Cherry Hill Seminary.
