Overview
Grith is a concept of ethics that appears in some American Heathen spaces. It represents the commitment to behave sociably, warmly, and diplomatically with unfamiliar people. Grith differs from frith because it refers to reciprocity exercised between two or more separate parties, whereas frith is something fostered with familiar people.
The philosophy behind grith is one of hospitality; people ought to be polite to one other even if they’re complete strangers. Heathens value grith because it creates a baseline standard by which we interact that proves to be quite successful when practiced widely.
