Midgard ("Middle Earth") is the tangible world around us—the home of mankind and all the plants and animals that live herein. Midgard is characterized as "an enclosure," a self-contained environment that is simultaneously the abode and the barrier that contains the abode and keeps the wild forces like giant out. In this way Midgard can be thought of a bit like a terrarium.
