Overview
Útiseta is the practice of outside-sitting. On the surface, it looks like a meditative practice, for it involves sitting somewhere outdoors in nature, typically on an earthbound stone.
My personal understanding and experience of outside-sitting is that it’s the practice of sitting outside your usual reality.
Historically, outside-sitting was performed in places that were spiritual thresholds, such as on grave mounds, at crossroads, and in caves. These are places where normal reality is wavy and easy to collapse, and thus they make perfect places to “sit outside” in.
