The Nordic Iron Age

The Nordic Iron Age is divided up into three different periods:

• The Pre-Roman Iron Age (500 BCE – 0 BCE)
• The Roman Iron Age (1-400 CE)
• The Germanic Iron Age (401-800 CE).

The Nordic Iron Age began with the introduction of ironworking via the proto-Celtic Hallstatt culture. The Iron Age Norse began to craft wares from iron extracted from bog peat.
