Gesta Danorum or “The Danish History” was written by author Saxo Grammaticus as an attempt to record the early history of the Danes. It’s unknown exactly when it was written, but scholars agree it was penned no earlier than 1208 C.E. While this work is a historical recollection, it also contains many fanciful stories of human heroes interacting with the gods, making this a further resource on Norse mythology.
As a point of interest, Gesta Danorum‘s version of Baldur’s Death doesn’t feature Loki, unlike the Eddic versions.
