Heathenry is a religion that practices ancestor veneration. Ancestors play a very important role in Norse Paganism and factor into many people’s practices. Our ancestors are family who came before us, whether they are family by blood or by bond. They are people we consider important to our legacy and who we invite into our spiritual lives to observe that legacy.

Our ancestors don’t need to be Scandinavian to be honored within Norse Pagan practice. Additionally, we can choose which ancestors we want to venerate, or whether we want to work with ancestors at all. Like with anything, the practitioner decides what’s best and most fulfilling for their practice.
